Our esteemed client, a prestigious lender, is in search of a Lead Data Engineer, who is responsible for developing ETL/ELT systems for precise data transformation, ensuring a single source of truth for business reporting. Collaborates with the data team and external users, advocating SQL best practices. Leads scalable business-wide data architecture design, acting as a data governance champion to enforce controls and best practices within the group.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Transformation: Develop and maintain ETL/ELT systems, ensuring accurate data transformation into fact and dimension datasets.
  • Single Source Assurance: Ensure datasets serve as a singular source for business reporting, collaborating with power users inside and outside the team.
  • Best Practices Promotion: Collaborate with data team and external users to advocate SQL script and report best practices for efficiency.
  • Architectural Leadership: Lead design of scalable business-wide data architectures to handle evolving demands.
  • Governance Advocacy: Act as a data governance champion, promoting controls for data integrity within the group.
  • Project Technical Leadership: Lead detailed design phases for data projects, identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Strategic Data Analysis: Assess business needs, researching alternatives for data tech solutions aligned with goals.
  • Documentation and Training: Prepare detailed data specifications, ensuring sufficient documentation and staff training for project success.
  • Report Management: Design and maintain reports and datasets for business needs, ensuring correctness and performance.
  • Enhancements and Support: Manage 3rd party development, coordinate implementations, oversee enhancements, and provide support for databases and data sets, optimizing system performance.

Essential System Skills:

  • Microsoft platforms.
  • Advanced PowerBI.
  • Advanced MSSQL Server /SSIS, SSRS, Modern web technologies and interfacing.
  • IT Standards, Methodologies & audit requirements.
  • VBA / MSSQL / batch scripting, database administration and management skills.

Desirable System Skills:

  • HTML, TFS, JavaScript, ASP.NET.
  • Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Data Warehouse experience.
  • Microsoft Azure.
  • Artificial Intelligence for data.
  • Application Programming Interface (API) experience.
  • Python programming.
  • Azure Data Factory
